JI am Janina Leigue, a contemporary artist whose oil paintings on linen bring everyday scenes and objects to life with luminous light, quiet beauty, and deep emotional resonance. I am currently based in Madrid, Spain, where I work primarily in the realist tradition drawing from classical influences while weaving in a modern sensibility and vibrant storytelling that feels personal and immediate.

My journey as an artist began in childhood. The moment I picked up my first pencil, I felt an overwhelming joy watching simple lines turn into something alive on the page. When I discovered the paintbrush and oils, it opened an entirely new world one that would shape the rest of my life. With art books, intuition, and countless hours spent painting on linen, I found encouragement from family and friends who loved my work and often asked for pieces as gifts.

A defining chapter came during the three years I lived in Madrid. There, I immersed myself in the masterpieces of the Old Masters, studied their techniques, and had the privilege of learning and working alongside prestigious local painters. That experience transformed my approach. I developed a profound appreciation for dramatic lighting, rich textures, and the timeless power of still life and interior scenes. It taught me to let ideas unfold naturally painting from life, arranging compositions that speak to me emotionally, and layering them into new, resonant images.

My mission is simple yet deeply felt: I want to inspire delight and genuine emotional connection in the viewer. I strive to turn the familiar a cocktail glass catching the light, a quiet harbor at dawn, a guitar resting in candlelight into something extraordinary, something that lingers long after the first glance.

I have exhibited at prestigious venues such as the Palm Beach Show and Agora Gallery, and my work has been represented through galleries worldwide. I create original oil paintings, limited-edition signed prints (sometimes incorporating clay elements), and custom commissions, and I ship carefully to collectors around the globe.
